Top Winter Sun Travel Destinations

Top Winter Sun Travel Destinations

Well, many British holiday makers were left feeling fairly cheated again by this summer’s very slight offering of sunshine, and those hoping that it may be sunny enough to stay home this year found that they had really put their eggs in the wrong basket. Then there is at least the knowledge that you have had a cheap summer at least and that as soon as summer ends there are many cheaper holiday options, with many destinations charging just half the price that they may over the peak season.
In fact there are many climates which sustain sunshine all year round, and if it is not an Omni-summer, then there is certainly an Omni-spring, offering a pleasant climate to enjoy as the British Isles get even colder and drizzlier. With many airlines slashing prices and holiday home owners slashing prices in an attempt to retrieve your tourist dollars.

The Canary Islands are famous for having 300 days of summer, a warm climate that stretches all through August, a welcome haven for those Brits that feel they have missed out on their annual rays of sunshine.
A survey by Skyscanner, a website dedicated to overseeing travel trends, shows that while all the Canary Islands seem popular with tourists, such as Lanzarote and Gran Canaria. But the destination most popular with those trying to get some last minute, winter sunshine is Tenerife.
A holiday to Tenerife offers a lot to the off season traveller, for a start there are many cheap flights thanks to the cheap airlines departing from the UK, then there is the accommodation. Villas here are a fraction of their summer prices while apartments in Tenerife become very reasonable.

Also high up on the lists of those looking for a late burst of sunshine is Alicante which is always a popular destination during the off season, while Malaga also remains popular.
While winter sun holidays may be popular with air bookings this not the only type of departure on holidaymakers minds. With Christmas coming, the experienced shopaholics are looking for more exciting shopping destinations than their local high streets.
Flights to New York are high on the list for those fancying a fairly luxurious shopping break, offering one of the world’s most glamorous shopping destinations for those that can afford it, though Amsterdam and London are also high on the list as other big cities offering much to the consumer. Surprisingly Paris is off the list this year and this may serve to show how hard the recession has hit as Parisian boutiques become too expensive for many travellers wishing to get a Christmas bargain.
While Paris slips we see other hot climate destinations rising in the list, for the first time Australia has made the top ten as travellers rush out for some warmth. Other destination such as Mumbai, Kuala Lumpur, and Delhi also saw a rise in British interest, offering all the heat of Australia but at a fraction of the price due to the lower cost of living and cheap accommodation.
