The zoo of Barcelona is a nice day-trip. De zoo was for a long time a famous attraction because the unique white gorilla Floquet de Neu. Unfortunately, the animal died the 24th of November 2003, but still the zoo is worth visiting. There are a lot of different animals from all over the world! The zoo is famous of his large collection of monkeys, like the Borneo gorilla. Beside this, the zoo has a dolphin tank and specials animals like the Iberian wolf, the Angolan lion and the ‘ dorcas' gazelle. The zoo has a large collection of birds and reptiles, including a lot of crocodile's sorts, from all parts over the world. The zoo has also nice fauna, with birds of prey, Iberian Capricorn and the Iberian wolf.
Barcelona Zoo is set in a magnificent garden over 100 years old, covering 13 hectares of Ciutadella Park and containing a collection of some 7,500 individual animals belonging to more than 400 species from all
over the world. A very nice thing of the zoo is that you can see the animals at close quarters.
Barcelona Zoo is based within the gorgeous Parc de la Ciutadella. The best way to find the zoo is to go to Ciutadella park and to follow the signs to the Zoo. The Zoo also has a restaurant, picnic area, a shop, electric cars, ponies and a mini-train.
The prices to visit the zoo is depending of your age and if you are coming with a group or not. The prices for the zoo are:
- Adults € 15.40
- Children ( 3-12 years ( € 9.30
- Groups of adults ( 20 or more) € 12.00
- Groups of school, Day Camp or youth club children ( till 18 years ) € 6.50
- Groups of nursery or nursery school children (under 3 years of age ) € 2.70
The opening hours depends on which month you will go.
- January, February and 1 till 15 march from 10:00-17:00
- 16-31 March, April and May from 10:00-18:00
- June, July, August and September from 10:00-19:00
- October, November and December from 10:00-17:00
- And the 25th of December the zoo is open till 12:00
